Christmas Cake Temperature
![]() Problem with baking Christmas cake, please? Hi – I baked my cake, and noticed during the cooking that there was fat (butter) dripping down onto the bottom of the oven. When I took the cake out, the layers of paper were soaked in fat, and I scraped maybe 2 oz of butter off the inside of the oven. Have you heard of this happening before? Do you think it was the oven temperature? Or maybe I mis-weighed the butter & put in too much? Any thoughts please. It sounds odd. I really dont know. When the cake is cool, eat a tiny bit and see what its like. It will probably be ok. If its too dry, poke a skewer and make holes all over and pour some brandy over and let it soak in (or any spirit). When you ice it, it will cover the tiny bit you cut off to test. Practice makes perfect, so dont be put off baking. |
